Colorado Portraits: Austin Thomas, BSN

Denver, Colorado

I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Colorado portraits of my friend Austin, who recently graduated from nursing school. We planned the shoot around golden hour, and Denver didn’t disappoint. The light was soft and warm, casting a golden glow across the city. As we walked the Capitol grounds, the building stood out in full beauty, its gold dome shining in the evening sun. It was the perfect backdrop to celebrate such a huge accomplishment.

Austin has worked so hard to get to this point. His commitment to caring for others and striving to do it at the highest level is nothing short of inspiring. Watching him step confidently into this new chapter of his career made the session feel extra meaningful. He’s already out in the community, serving in emergency rooms across the metro area, making a real difference.

We had a blast during the shoot. Austin brought great energy and style, and the session quickly turned into more of a celebration than just a photo shoot. We put on Apple Music’s High Maintenance playlist, which kept the vibe fun and upbeat. It gave us the perfect mix of confidence and joy to match the moment.

Photography always feels most rewarding when it’s about capturing more than just a moment. It’s about telling a story. This shoot was a celebration of grit, compassion, and a major milestone for someone who truly deserves recognition. I’m proud of these images, but I’m even more proud of Austin and the incredible work he’s doing in our city.

Mentioned in this post: City of Denver, Mercer University: College of Nursing, Colorado State Capitol, Apple Music: High Maintenance
