A New York Engagement: Felicity & Leon

New York, New York

There’s something undeniably special about photographing a New York engagement in the place where their story first began. For Felicity and Leon, that place was Stuyvesant High School, a cornerstone of their journey, and one of New York City’s most iconic schools. As soon as they mentioned wanting to start their engagement session there, I knew we were about to create something deeply personal and nostalgic.

A New York engagement couple stands close together in a glass-walled corridor, with the woman in a white dress and the man in a gray suit, looking at the camera.

Stuyvesant High School, founded in 1904 and relocated to Battery Park City in 1992, is known for its academic excellence and striking glass architecture. Our first stop was the staircase atrium, where I focused on capturing quiet, meaningful moments despite the busy hallways.

The atrium held special significance, as it was where Felicity and Leon often crossed paths between classes. We also visited a classroom they once shared, an ordinary space shaped by memory. Their calm connection stood out beautifully against the surrounding energy.

After the school portion of our session, Felicity and Leon changed into a more formal look, and we made our way uptown to Central Park just in time for golden hour. The park, always a classic New York backdrop, gave us a chance to capture the more romantic, timeless side of their relationship. We wandered from the Bow Bridge to Bethesda Terrace, where the skyline glowed behind them in the soft sunset light.

I first met Felicity through working with her. She’s a talented designer with a rare gift for crafting every detail of an experience. That attention to nuance showed up throughout the day, from their thoughtfully chosen outfits to the locations they selected. Leon, a kind and deeply thoughtful engineer, brought a grounded calmness to the session. Together, they have a quiet but powerful chemistry that made photographing them feel effortless and genuine.

This session was more than just beautiful backdrops and well-timed light. It was a full-circle moment, from the beginnings of a high school friendship to a shared life in the making. Felicity and Leon’s story is rooted in New York, shaped by its rhythm, and elevated by their undeniable connection. It was an honor to document this chapter of their journey, and I can’t wait to see the next celebration in November.
